This policy outlines how Arthur (trading as ArthV Guitar Studio) collects, uses, and protects your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
♫
1. Data We Collect
We collect the minimum amount of personal data required to conduct our business:
Contact Information: Your name, phone number, and email address.
Payment & Scheduling Details: Records of lessons booked, payments made, and your address if lessons are conducted at your home.
Communications: Records of our correspondence regarding lesson scheduling, progress, and any specific learning requirements you’ve shared.
♫
2. Lawful Basis and Use of Data
The legal basis for processing this data is the fulfillment of a contract (providing guitar lessons). Your contact information is used solely for scheduling lessons, communicating lesson changes, answering queries about your progress, and managing payments.
♫
3. Data Retention
Active Students: Your data is retained for the duration of our teaching relationship.
Former Students: Contact and lesson records are retained for 5 years after your final lesson to comply with HMRC requirements for self-employed business records. After this period, all data is securely deleted.
Prospective Students: If you inquire about lessons but don’t proceed with booking, your contact information is retained for 6 months, then deleted. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
♫
4. Data Security
All digital data is stored on password-protected devices with encryption. Any physical records (such as payment receipts) are kept in secure storage at my home office. Access to your personal data is restricted to me alone—no third parties have access to your information.
♫
5. Data Sharing and Storage
We value your privacy. ArthV Guitar Studio does not share, sell, or trade your personal data with any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.
Your data may only be shared in the following exceptional circumstances:
- With HMRC if legally required for tax compliance purposes
- If required by law or court order
All data is stored securely within the UK.
♫
6. Your Rights Under GDPR
You have the right to:

- Request corrections to any inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal/HMRC retention requirements)
- Object to processing of your data
- Request data portability (receive your data in a portable format)
